Weekly Challenge

Folding Symmetry

This week’s challenge invites you to look for seed shapes in bigger shapes. Imagine a small shape with no reflectional symmetry, duplicating itself with its mirror image and producing a new shape. Imagine that this happens a few times and produces the following shapes:

Your task is to find out what shape these came from originally. See if you can work it out before you actually fold it. What shape will you end up with? How many iterations will it take?

Download the shapes and instructions and let us know how you got on with it by tweeting using #momentofmaths and start to see Every moment is a #momentofmaths
